There will only be expansion packs that gives you new chapters of the story and maybe new features.
You will never be charged a montly fee, nor will you have to pay for a patch. It's in the FAQ. |

Its not really right to call them x-packs, they will have equal or more content than the original game. |

Heh, That was a IMO post but here we go. Most people think of x-packs as relitivly small additions to the game, these will add just as much if not more content to the game. Further more the are not even called x-packs, they are called chapters. They are more atune to new games than a simple expansion. |

Also, I fear that it will eventually get monthly fees. No I'm not gonna give you a reason for this because I don't see it coming, but I just generally fear it because I love this game and I'm a pessimist.

From the FAQ: (and I am holding them to this ):
How much will Guild Wars cost? How much will additional chapters cost? Guild Wars will be priced at a comparable cost to other first-tier PC games. The subsequent chapters of Guild Wars will also be comparably priced in relation to other games. Will there be a subscription fee for Guild Wars? Are there any other fees, such as for patches or updates? There will not be a subscription fee of any kind, anywhere in the world and there are no hidden fees. You will not have to pay for the streaming updates that will take place on a regular basis, nor for additional content that we will provide between the chapters of Guild Wars. Jana |

Yes I've read that. It doesn't make me any less paranoid over them going back on their word, regardless of not having any reason for me to think that. I'm just a paranoid freak

I hope not.
They say no, they may even me no at the time. But I've seen a lot of examples over the years when folks offer something for free, then once they have a large enough customer base start charging. With that said, I don't see any reason why they would, but if they did they deserve it because of the amazing game they provided for us. And if takes a measly $9.99 month to ensure that, I'm on board. |

question answered. the marketing scheme is one of the basic tenets behind the game and one of the main reasons the game was brought about.
Edit By Ashleigh McMahon: This is also in the FAQ.
